Wafeltje Stroopwafels is a small, owner-operated business run by me, Matthew Nelson. Wafeltje focuses on crafting authentic, handmade Dutch stroopwafels — thin, crispy waffle cookies filled with rich caramel. Everything, from the dough to the stroop caramel filling, is made completely from scratch using simple, high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
Each stroopwafel is baked fresh on-site at markets, creating an interactive and memorable experience that engages market-goers, fills the air with inviting aromas, and showcases the skill of live craftsmanship. While honoring traditional Dutch methods and celebrating Dutch heritage, Wafeltje also explores creative, thoughtfully developed stroopwafel variations and pairings that push the boundaries of what a stroopwafel can be. My goal is to offer something both familiar and new, paired with friendly service and a genuine connection to the community.
