Hearth & Hollow is a backyard micro-nursery in SE Vancouver growing edible plant starts in organic soil, 10 minutes away from the market. Every plant comes with a variety-specific grow guide and a grower on-hand happy to answer your questions all season long.
Hearth & Hollow started in January 2025 when the world felt uncertain and the most useful thing we could think to do was grow food. We bought a greenhouse, planted every seed we could get our hands on, and haven’t looked back. We also make organic raspberry jam using fruit from a local farm, run workshops for home growers, and offer a seasonal Plant CSA — a membership where you load growing credit at the start of the season, get 20% off everything, and spend it on plants as you’re ready, at your own pace, all season long.
We believe everyone can grow their own food, and that the biggest barrier is usually access to healthy starts and someone to ask when you’re not sure what you’re doing. That’s what we show up for every Saturday.
When we’re not buried in the greenhouse, you’ll find us with a double espresso and a seed catalog, adding varieties to a collection that has long since become a problem we are at peace with.
