Increasing equitable food access and culturally relevant nutrition education for lower income communities while investing in local farms.
SNAP Market Match helps increase access to fresh, nutritious food by providing a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $25 per day, for SNAP customers shopping at our farmers markets. This program allows individuals and families using EBT benefits to stretch their food dollars while supporting local farmers and food businesses. Here’s how it works:
By doubling the purchasing power of SNAP benefits, this program makes locally grown, healthy food more affordable and accessible while strengthening the local food system.
In partnership with WSU Extension Clark County SNAP-Ed, Farmers Market Tours provide a free, guided shopping experience, helping SNAP/EBT customers navigate our farmers markets while maximizing their benefits. These interactive tours offer hands-on learning opportunities, teaching participants how to utilize SNAP Market Match, introducing them to local farmers, sharing tips on selecting and storing fresh produce, and providing simple, budget-friendly recipes.
At the end of the tour, participants receive $20 to spend on fruits and vegetables. Tours are available in English, Spanish, and Russian.
In partnership with the Vancouver Clinic and American Heart Association, the Produce Prescription Program increases food access for patients experiencing food insecurity and managing chronic and diet-related illnesses. Participants receive a weekly subscription of fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local farms, delivered directly to their homes.
Each delivery includes a weekly newsletter featuring farmer stories, easy recipes, storage tips, and preparation ideas to help patients enjoy and incorporate fresh ingredients into their meals. By combining nutrition support with education and accessibility, the program promotes long-term health while strengthening the local food system.
In partnership with the Vancouver Clinic and American Heart Association, Grocery Rx provides patients experiencing food insecurity with free vouchers to purchase fresh, locally grown produce and other nutritious groceries at the Vancouver Farmers Market. By increasing access to healthy food, the program supports patients in managing their health while also investing in the local food system.
In partnership with the Clark County Food Bank, the Gleaning Program ensures that no nutritious food goes to waste by redirecting fresh produce donated by market farmers to individuals and families in need. Each week, food bank volunteers collect surplus fruits, vegetables, and other food items from the Vancouver Farmers Market for distribution to local food pantries, supporting both hunger relief and food waste reduction.

Supporting new and developing small businesses who experience barriers to success.
The Vancouver Farmers Market is committed to fostering the growth and success of market businesses by hosting regular networking events, educational workshops, and skill-building opportunities. Through expert-led sessions, peer-to-peer learning, and direct access to business resources, these events create a supportive environment where entrepreneurs can connect, collaborate, and refine their skills.
The Vancouver Farmers Market offers Small Business Scholarships to help market businesses invest in their growth and long-term success. These scholarships provide financial support for continuing education opportunities, including industry-specific classes, professional conferences, and essential certifications. Additionally, businesses that actively participate in our programs and face financial barriers may qualify for assistance with market booth fees.

Through strong partnerships with trusted organizations like Business Impact Northwest and the Greater Vancouver Chamber, we connect market businesses with valuable, no-cost resources to support their growth and success. Entrepreneurs gain access to specialized business courses, personalized one-on-one coaching, and funding opportunities designed to help them navigate challenges, expand their operations, and build sustainable businesses.

Fostering food systems education and entrepreneurial spirit for the next generation.
Produce Pals is a summertime program designed to connect children with the local food system through interactive learning and hands-on experiences. Participants engage in conversations with farmers, educational games, and food demonstrations, gaining exposure to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. After completing an activity, each child receives $4 to spend on produce at the market, empowering them to make independent, healthy food choices while also supporting local farmers.
Youth Markets empower the next generation of young entrepreneurs by providing hands-on experience in starting and running a small business. Kids learn how to develop a business plan, create handmade products, and gain real-world sales experience in a supportive marketplace environment. These budding entrepreneurs have the opportunity to showcase and sell their goods at two signature events each year, the Junior Market in June and the Kids Holiday Market in December.
